Last night we had Scott’s brother James and sister Felicity over for dinner – curry, pappadums, lassi, Heaven icecream (the hazelnut one) with chocolate bavarian and a Flake crushed on top. Yummo! It was a fantastic night full of food and fun.
James is back in Oz for a flying visit, brought on by his duties as a best man this coming Saturday. He has been travelling overseas to various countries which started off with a mountain climb in South America. Since then, he has been swimming with sharks, walking the Inca trail, kissing a puma and riding an ostrich. He also fell off his ostrich but that’s another story… He brought his digital camera over to show us some shots that he has been taking while overseas and they were fantastic! It was great to see him again, the last time was at the airport on Christmas Day 2004 when we waved him goodbye.
It was so good to have them over – just us young people without the oldies
Watching them go ga-ga over Catherine was also nice. We have some video footage of Uncle James telling Catherine all about the animals he saw at Kruger National Park while Aunty Fliss was holding her – very cute!
Being an only child, I really appreciate having James and Fliss as a brother and sister-in-law. It is just so much fun being able to get together with family and have a relaxing night. Having dinner with the parents just isn’t the same – generation gap and all ![]()
I don’t want to sound biased or even that I’m boasting, but I think Catherine is just one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen. I mean, most babies are cute. I say “most” because let’s face it…not ALL babies are cute. There are some that are just not as nice looking. Looking back at the photos of Catherine when she was just a few hours old, you can see that she has definitely grown more gorgeous! The red face was from a rash, I think caused by my slight fever at the end (yep, it’s all mum’s fault!).
Check out her smiles…what a beautiful sight to greet you at the beginning of the day! I brought her out after her sleep in the afternoon the other day after Scott got home. You should have seen the grin spread across her face when she saw Dad…it was so sweet! I bought her a little outfit (yes, it’s pink…didn’t come in any other colour!) that says on the front, “I love my Daddy.” On the back, it says, “Daddy loves me.” Very cute! Scott went to mush when he saw it
On the subject of pink clothes…I have given up on the no-pink rule. It is impossible to stick to! Also, I dressed her in yellow one day and was asked by my physio why I dressed her in yellow if she was a girl! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that yellow was a non-gender specific colour?
Anyway, check out the photos…they are much more interesting than my ramblings!

Went to Malaya Corner again last night! We had a friend from church come with us and we all ordered something different. Scott’s choice for the night was “Nasi Lemak”, a delight to the tastebuds as well as the eyes…it was very well presented. Andrew (our friend who went with us) chose the Deep fried Calamari in Mermite sauce which is usually Scotty’s fav. We aren’t too sure what Mermite Sauce is, I thought it may have been Marmite but just spelt incorrectly. Anyway, it tastes good and that’s the main thing! My pick was the Wet Fried Ho Fun with Combination, basically rice noodles fried with beef, chicken, prawns, calamari and veges all smothered in an eggy sauce. It was delish!

We have mentioned our favourite restaurant before – Malaya Corner – because it has great food and is good value for money. Lately, we have been eating there quite regularly simply because we needed to take photos of the food for the blog. No, really. Check it out! Will add more photos as we order more food

We went clothes shopping for me today. I just hate love shopping! Went to Westfield Carindale because Rivers were having a sale.
Initially we could not find the Rivers store – it had moved within the centre but the directories had not been updated!
When we did find the store we found that the trousers were sold out, so a executive consultative decision was made by Jo that we should visit the Rivers store in the city.
While in the city we went to the Myer store and saw this awesome bargain for ‘Spin n Stack Rings’ in the toys section. I bought five.

I go through obsessions, much to Scott’s dismay. At first it was candles, candles and more candles. Then I didn’t have anywhere to put them so now they are all packed away in a cupboard ready for when we have more room…
Then it was animals…still is. We currently have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 5 guinea pigs, 3, 4 foot fishtanks and 1, 3 foot fishtank. I think I need to get rid of the 3 foot fishtank and the guinea pigs…any takers?
Trixie Belden books are always good…but it got a bit expensive and ebay was too time-consuming!
I always love looking at stationery, Officeworks must make a fortune from me. I hardly ever USE the stuff I buy, what would be the point in that? I just collect them!
“The Cat who…” books are also a hit…I only have another 15 more of the suckers to collect. For those interested, the author is Lillian Jackson Braun and it’s basically about a bachelor journo (Qwilleran) who has a nose for crime and 2 Siamese cats. Koko is the male and he’s basically the one that solves all the mysteries. Yum Yum is the female and she is a little cutie. So far, I have managed to hook 4 people on them…(evil laugh) Word of advice, start from the beginning as you find out how Qwilleran gets hold of his cats and the later books do refer to previous happenings. That said, you can read them as stand-alone novels.
But the current obsession is…soap. Yes, that’s right, soap. Don’t be mistaken that I go to the supermarket and just buy run-of-the-mill soap, that would just be silly…! I have a penchant for novelty soaps and as you can see, they must look edible! Watermelon, lemon meringue, swiss orange, iced donut and licorice. They smell as good as they look, but don’t think that you can use them, they’re display only! I’m thinking I should get one of those cake holders and put them on that…? Feeling hungry now, think I’ll go and have some Hummingbird cake! I am so blessed to have a patient husband

Okay, remember how I told you all that Catherine was a girl on the go? Well, she really is. The photo speaks for itself. See where the playgym is in the background? Well, that is where I put her on her back with her head closest to the stuffed toys. As you can see, she has rolled over, turned 180 or so degrees and made her way to where you see her now… Scary or what? She is only 15 weeks old this Wednesday! About three and a half months old! We are definitely going to have to start babyproofing the house sooner than we thought.
