Oh no!

It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged! I guess we’ve just been cruising along as a family though Scott has been working some pretty horrendous hours. Catherine is growing up so very quickly and while it’s exciting, it is also a bit sad. There have been a couple of milestones this week, one of which I have been dreading. On Saturday, we had put Catherine in her cot for a sleep and closed the door. A little while later, she started letting us know that she was awake and wanted out. Scott went to get her and this is what he found…

What have we here? She’s standing up?!

Looking very pleased with herself!

Happy with herself!

Needless to say, we were in a bit of shock. Scott’s job now is to lower the cot base! The pedeatrician told us last week when we went for her checkup that she was advanced for her age physically and verbally but I guess we didn’t quite comprehend what he meant by that! He did tell us that she was going to start crawling soon and this morning while she was in bed with us, she crawled a couple of “steps”. She mainly gets around by “butterflying” – think swimming but on land…- which to me looks painful but she seems happy to do it!

Black Helicopters

As we all know too well, governments around the world have a scattering of cladestine departments up to all sorts of top secret and nefarious acts. But no activity is as insidious as the operations of the Black helicopters to spy on ordinary, hard working citizenry.

Actual hard evidence of the said coloured helicopters has been thin on the ground (or should I say hovering at a sinister low altitude) – until now.

With help from Google Earth, the skeptics can be silenced on and for all. An article from The Register reveals shocking new evidence that removes any doubt about the existence of Black helicopters.

Here is one shot from “Boeing’s Black Helicopter factory in Arizona” –

Bushfires

We have had some rain, but not enough to fill the dams.

Before the rain it had been stinking hot and dry, and there were a few bushfires in the local area. In fact two were visible from our house on two separate occasions – one looking up the street, and the other looking down the street. Talk about being hemmed in.

There is greater use of fixed and rotary wing aircraft for firefighting in Brisbane, which I find really cool (after all I am an aviation nut, fuelled by an organisation I was involved with as a teenager).

60 years old today!

A big Happy Birthday to my Daddy! He’s 60 years old today!

Last night we had a surprise birthday party for him at Mum and Dad’s house. He thought that there were only going to be about eight people there…instead, the stream never stopped until we had 35 of us in the house! Needless to say, he was surprised :D

RSPCA Dog Day Out!

On Saturday, Scott and I went to the RSPCA’s Dog Day Out which was an event of Awareness Week 2005, held in Fairfield Park, down the road from the Fairfield Shelter. It was interesting getting the pram, nappybag, Gemma (our German Shepherd) and Misty (our Mini-Foxie) into the car together with Catherine. As you can probably see, it was pretty full!

Gemma was very excited when we got there, so much so that we thought we may have had to go back home to drop her off so we could have a quiet day! She settled down though, and met some new friends through the time that we were there. There were HEAPS of dogs there! Greenbank RSL donated $100 to the RSPCA for every dog that came to the Day Out up to $25 000. Needless to say, the target was reached and it was a very successful day.

A quick trip to Toowoomba!

On Saturday, we made a trip up to Toowoomba to see some friends of ours, Neil and Melanie Capps who have just had a baby boy, Jonah. They have also been building their house which was finished in the nick of time…they moved in the weekend before they had bub! We had a great time visiting and catching up and in all the excitement, we forgot to take a pic of the new little man and his parents!! Goes to show just how good a visit it was! We did get pics of some emus on the way there, their house, the views from their house, Catherine with Daddy and Mummy, a cool tree, a random horse and Scott playing army man…enjoy!

Our first Food Direct delivery!

We have Gerrod and Kristy to thank for pointing us in the direction of an online grocery shop called Food Direct. We usually do our grocery shop on a Monday night because that is the only night that we seem to have consistently “free”. Last week however, we decided to go with the online thing so we could go for a walk on a Monday night. It was a bit overwhelming and time-consuming at first because although all the categories are set out for you, you still need to look through everything to see what they’ve got to offer (or at least, I do!). My favourite option is under the “Bulk Foods” and then “Confectionery” category…Allens Killer Pythons! All 32 (king-sized) or 70 of them! Scott won’t let me get them though…very selfish of him, I think! We also decided to give Food Direct a go because I had enough of Scott dragging me down every single aisle every week and impulse shopping. I’m hoping our grocery bill goes down!

So Wednesday last week, we received our first order…
