1st day of Canada trip and it’s already been eventful…

Well, it was a very early start to the day waking up at 4:30am to leave by 5:30am. The plane was due to leave at 9:30am so we needed to be at the International Airport at around 6:30am. We made it after a fairly uneventful car trip in aside from almost being sideswiped by a limo…

Had breakfast with Scott’s parents Graham and Jenny who met us in there. They were a great help with looking after the girls while we got checked in. I took a wander around the duty free shop out of interest and spotted….a Wii!!!!!!!!!!!! So I got one. :D :D :D I also bought an extra controller (with Wii Play) and nunchuck. Much cheaper than retail, of course :) So that’s Scott’s and my Christmas 2007 present :)

Boarded the plane and flew via Cairns to Narita Airport in Tokyo. Now, I should say here that all of us are sick – Scott, Catherine and Alexandra have runny noses and I have a very sore throat and a runny nose. We went to a friend’s place for a weekend and their little boy was sick…we’ve all been sick for the last 2 weeks because of it. Not particularly happy as it doesn’t make for very happy kids while flying…and that’s all I’m going to say about it. Catherine’s ears were very sore on the descents and the poor kid was almost crying. Because of this, on our descent into Tokyo, I was concentrating on keeping her occupied and distracted from the discomfort.

We disembarked, collected the bags and went through Customs. Stopped, looked for the bus stop where we needed to wait for our shuttle bus to the hotel and walked there (think 2 trolleys to push and 3 backpacks and 2 kids to carry). When we get to the stop, I look around and said to Scott, “Where’s my bag?” Yep, I’d left my traveling handbag on the plane, underneath my seat. I had totally forgotten about it because of keeping Catherine occupied! Bearing in mind that the shuttle bus we were about to catch was the last one for the evening…we continued on to the hotel, checked in and began the ring around (or at least Scott did while I put the kids to bed). I’ll let him blog about that…

Anyway, they have my bag and we’ll pick it up when we go to the airport this morning to start the next leg of our journey – Narita to Detroit then Detroit to Montreal. I’ve got a raging sore throat…

A very, very funny video…

Just one word of warning – go to the toilet first…

Scott can be side-splittingly funny…

Now, it’s not often that Scott can make me laugh so much that my stomach hurts and tears run down my face but yesterday he did just that.

We (the girls and I) were waiting for him to come home from work and we had the garage door up ready for Daddy to drive in. It was around 5:45pm which is normally the time that he gets back when he walks from the bus stop. It was more unusual that he was not home already considering that he drove to the bus stop yesterday. Anyway, time passed and at one stage I thought I heard some noise outside and said to Catherine, “I think Daddy’s home!” We opened the internal garage door after a few minutes and looked out but, no Daddy was to be seen.

Around 6pm, the car drove in and Catherine did her usual greet Daddy at the door routine while I was giving Alexandra her dinner. Scott came in and put his bags down etc etc and then said to me, “Promise you won’t laugh.” At this point, I started laughing and said, “You caught the wrong bus, didn’t you?!”

S – “Promise you won’t laugh!”
J – “You did! You caught the wrong bus!!!” (Fits of laughter)
S – “Stop it! I caught the right bus!”
J – “Oh, so you caught the right bus but at the wrong time?!” (More laughter)
S – “No, I caught the right bus at the right time!”
J – “Okay, tell me why you were late…”
S – “I walked home…”
J – (HYSTERICAL laughter for a minute or so)”You (gasp) WALKED (gasp) home?! (more hysterical laughter) But you DROVE to the bus stop today!!!!!!!!!”

While I’m still laughing, Scott says:
S – “I forgot! I walked all the way home and saw the garage door up and thought “Where’s the Pulsar? I even got the mail from the letterbox! I even ran part of the way back to get the car.”
J – “So it wasn’t my imagination! I did actually think you came home!”
S – “Yeah.” (sheepishly)

:) :D

First tooth!

Alexandra is almost 9 months old and now has her first tooth! An incisor on the top right hand side…

She’s following Catherine’s late teething schedule but at least Catherine started with the usual bottom incisors!
