Outsourcing and globalisation

The excerpt that particularly caught my attention was from our favourite and much maligned
fast food chain -
“Even McDonalds is apparently experimenting with orders being taken in India and then transmitted by satellite to the person preparing the food. This reduces costs of order-taking staff to well below the American minimum wage.”
This is not as ridiculous as it sounds – if technology can enable a lower cost solution, and governments allow it, it will happen.
