Quick summary of today…
Posted in Canada on 03/16/2008 12:59 pm by joSo we’re going to fast forward 3 weeks…to today…
We got to our motel early this morning (1am) somewhere between Buffalo and Niagara so almost fell straight into bed – we drove non-stop (aside from a dinner stop and the compulsory snack and gas stops) from Montreal. Got up, had breakfast and headed for the Falls. Spent some time walking around the park (absolutely breathtaking but freezing!) and looking at squirrels. Decided to go to Buffalo for lunch as there was nothing other than Hard Rock Cafe open. Scott and I figure that Niagara only opens its doors during the summer season. Found the place that invented Buffalo Wings – YUMMO!!! – after getting hopelessly lost. I’ve decided I don’t like Buffalo anymore. We finally sat down to eat at 3pm, by which time I was almost sick from hunger, a headache and dehydration.
After lunner (no, not a typo), we tried to get back to the general area of our motel but got hopelessly lost again – have I mentioned that I’ve decided I don’t like Buffalo anymore? Anyway, finally got ourselves out of there and decided not to go back until we need to get to the airport on Mon morn! Found our way to a Walmart – wow! – and a weird bookstore that was set up very badly. I was looking for 3 authors – Colin Forbes (well known), Joanne Fluke (prob not so well known?) and Michael Connelly (also well known). No books from any of them! What a crock! Drove to a discount fashion outlet place (like DFO) (and got lost looking for it) where the brochure assured me that there was a bookstore. My contact lenses started playing up (mental note – must replace them!) and so I couldn’t really see properly (I mean, I couldn’t see properly – more than usual!). After walking around the whole centre, went to the info desk…oh, they’ve moved out… ARGH!! Was ready to scream at this point! How hard is it to find a decent @#$)*^)$* bookstore? Close to impossible by the looks of it! Had some Ben and Jerry’s icecream to drown my sorrows. Alexandra got stroppy because I wasn’t giving her as much icecream as she wanted and as quickly as she wanted. Also trying to fend off Catherine’s spoon while feeding myself and Lexie was interesting. Scott was a good boy and shared
Am going to try another place for a bookstore tomorrow as I need something for the trip home – if I ever get the chance to actually read it!
See you all soon!!! Tania, I have your mittens (more gloves, actually…figured they’d be more practical
)! Hayley, I’ve got you a mug from Niagara! Batesies, I have food!
