Touch footy – first game back for Scott

I was really looking forward to playing touch football this Tuesday. It was to be my first game since May, after I twisted my ankle back in March this year.

Specifically, it was the medial ligament – a very rare injury (only 10% of ankle injuries I was told).

I really injured it badly – after going to the physio and doing exercises for two months I went back to play, and the ankle swelled up and starting hurting again, and not a good hurt due to playing after a time off the field – it was a *bad* hurt.

So I got an X-ray – which was inclusive. And then off to get an MRI scan .. which did not reveal any permanent damage. I was scared by the physio who spoke of pins through the ankle and other drastic measures.

However it was just a matter of time and exercise. Walking is good, but walking with a weighted backpack is even better. A baby carried on the chest or back is an excellent equivalent!

I visited the doctor on Monday – who pronounced me ready to play on Tuesday. However it was to be a light game, fine by me considering I have lost fitness over this time.

However .. we decided not to play .. for some reason..

Poor Geoff – he really wanted a run on the field. But not a swim.

  1. Oooh… pins, MRI, X-ray. Now you’re talking my language. If you want to donate your whole foot to medical engineering research at any time, please let me know :-D

  2. Umm .. do I get my foot back intact afterwards ? ;)

  3. Looking at the good and the bad, well the bad is obvious, but the good is that Brisbane should never be turning down rain!

  4. pfff!! we should have played in the rain, we coudl have played in big diving flippers instead of touch boots and had the option of using a bodyboard to skim across the water to score tries. Better than sitting on a garbage can for 20 mins …..
